Petra Maleš wins L'Oreal-UNESCO scholarship

Approval of joint funding of the Croatian-French bilateral project (Cogito)

The project proposal titled "The influence of nanoparticles on the properties and arrangement of lipid bilayers: A first step in understanding the targeted delivery of theranostic vehicles" was chosen to receive joint Croatian-French funding within the bilateral project scheme. The project leaders are Dr Danijela Bakarić and Prof Marc Lamy de la Chapelle (University Le Mans, Le Mans, France).

Approval of project funding

Dr Danijela Bakarić was approved for funding of the project proposal within the programme GD-2023 (call ID GD1-25). The project is titled "Turbidimetric determination of giant unilamellar vesicle morphology in solutions of different tonicities".

Welcome new PhD student Vedrana Krajnović

Meeting of the leaders of the OeAD-MZOM bilateral project

On 20.12.2024., Dr Dražen Petrov traveled to RBI to attend a meeting for the Austrian-Croatian bilateral project "Changes in asymmetry of lipid bilayers due to the adsorption of hydrophobic cationic peptides" (OeAD-MZOM). The meeting included the discussions on the research completed so far and the plans for continuation.

Research stay of our students in Vienna

As a part of the Austrian-Croatian bilateral project "Changes in asymmetry of lipid bilayers due to the adsorption of hydrophobic cationic peptides" (OeAD-MZO), PhD students Petra Maleš and Lea Pašalić visited BOKU University (Vienna, Austria). During their one-week stay, they performed measurements of the interactions of hydrophobic cationic peptides by isothermal titration calorimetry and interferometry.

As a part of the German-Croatian bilateral project "The impact of myelin basic protein on the phase state, morphology and membrane structure" (DAAD-MZO), PhD student Lea Pašalić spent three weeks at the Max Planck Institute for Colloids and Interfaces, Potsdam, Germany. She worked on the preparation and confocal microscopy of giant unilamellar liposomes interacting with peptides.

Petra's research stay in Graz

PhD student Petra Maleš won the MOBDOK-2023 scholarship from the Croatian Science Foundation for a three-month research stay at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences, University of Graz, Austria. From April to July 2024, she was working on the structural analysis techniques for the characterization of model myelin membranes, under the supervision of Prof Georg Pabst.

Department lecture of Lea Pašalić

On Tuesday May 28th 2024, PhD student Lea Pašalić held a lecture titled: 'The preparation of asymmetric lipid membranes and their characterization with fluorescence spectroscopy'. She presented the results of her research work at J. Heyrovsky Institute for Physical Chemistry, Prague, Czechia.
